Spinal Cord Injury
Network
John Howard, former SCI Network board member, died July 30, 2004 at Reston Hospital Center, in Reston, Virginia, of a stroke following surgery. John had gone into Reston Hospital for surgery had a massive stroke, and died two days later. A lifelong DC area resident, John was sixty years young. He was then living with his beloved wife Marty in Vienna, Virginia. John left the board in 2001, and that same year was presented the SCI Networks highest honor, the Jane Mackintosh Award. At his departure he was also given the title of Honorary Director, the only individual ever to receive the title in the SCI Networks forty plus years.
John was a former
board member and for over ten years an
incredibly generous supporter. He was a
good man with a big laugh and a bigger heart. John supported us because he
believed in what we did. He contributed his time, energy, sweat and
connections, as well as his hard earned cash. He made the largest donation ever
made to the Spinal Cord Injury Network. Several board members attended a huge
celebration of John's life at the Vienna Baptist Church. Please leave requests
