The SCI Network John Howard Memorial Golf Marathon was held September 12, 2005 at the Langston Golf Course.We want very much to thank the John Howard family, especially his much loved wife, Marty Engle Howard, and his two sons, Mike (100 holes) and Kevin (100 holes) Howard. Our heartfelt appreciation to all twenty-two golfers who braved the 90 degree temps to help us raise over $30,000 in pledges. Five golfers actually completed 100 holes. One golfer, 96, but everyone is a winner.

Our sincere thanks also to the Steering Committee which consisted of Jesse Parker and Steve Towle of SCI Network; Ann Cody, a former Paralympian; Noel Jablonski, LPGA Golf Professional; Cindy Daniel a SCI Network friend and volunteer and Jan Seaman a former adapted physical educator. Last but not least, thanks to the SCI Network board members and volunteers, Dave Burds, Bobby Coward, John Pitman, and Dave Sharp. It is a dynamite group.

This year's event was managed by the American Association for Active Lifestyles and Fitness (AAALF) and the American Association for Leisure and Recreation (AALR) http://www.aaalf.org.

All that remains now is to collect those pledges, and then the all volunteer SCI Network will put those funds to work helping people with spinal cord injuries to live full and independent lives.

SCI Network is the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area chapter of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association. In existence over forty years, and incorporated as a 501[c][3] in DC, Maryland and Virginia since 1982, SCI Network’s mission is: To provide support and services to people with spinal cord injuries and other mobility impairing conditions, and to their families and friends.
